Weather

Do you live in Las Vegas? And miss the snow? Well we all know about Mount Charleston. Which is really pretty all year round. But let's talk about Red Rock. Beautiful all year round but have you seen it when it's covered in snow?

Just a short 25 minute drive from the strip is Red Rock Canyon. If you go on the scenic drive it will cost you to get in. However the scenic overlook is free. You can see the whole canyon. My family and I took a drive last December to see the canyon. It was raining really hard out until we got to West Charleston Blvd, just as it turns into the highway to go to Red Rock Canyon, it started snowing. They were the biggest flakes I have ever seen. And growing up in Southern California, you don't see much snow. My husband grew up in Wisconsin and saw snow every winter and he said they were the biggest flakes he had ever seen too. It took awhile to get to the scenic overlook because the snow was coming down fast and thick very quickly. We finally arrived and we weren't the only ones who decided to see Red Rock in the snow. They were at least 10 cars there. And most of them were getting ready to leave because the snow was getting too thick. We could only stay a few minutes because we didn't have snow chains or tires for our KIA. We brought our puppy and he was in the snow for the first time. He got cold rather fast and so did we because we didn't bring our heavy coats. Silly us!

Anyway, the next time it rains during the winter and you have some time to spare check out the white snow dusting the Red Rock Canyon walls. It is a sight to see!
